Full Description
April 1996: Fieldwalking (& auger) survey of circa 10 hectare field located broadly spread but nonetheless relatively dense scatter of burnt & worked flints and two sherds prehistoric pottery. Details in (S1,S2).
April 2009: desk-based assessment was undertaken by SCCAS in advance of a planning proposal for industrial units and associated yards, car parks and landscaping.
The PDA partially includes the site of a Late Bronze Age/Iron Age settlement enclosure of regional importance. This enclosure, where it lies within the site, has already been excavated in full although recent work to the south has demonstrated that settlement evidence extends beyond the confines of the enclosure. A prehistoric trackway which exits the enclosure also potentially crosses the PDA. This implies that the site as a whole has the potential for prehistoric deposits. (S3)
