Full Description
`There are some foundations in a small enclosure, known as the Three Corner ? Close, which might, by their near position to the Pilgrims' Way and by the character of the brickwork, suggest the site' (of the chapel of the Blessed Mary of Freckenham - see FRK Misc, CRN 16947). Three Cornered Close was, in 1924, situated between North Street and the river and opposite the `Pilgrim Field'. `The foundations left on the site are of very early brick'(S1). Location of `Three Corner Close' needs checking on enclosure map etc.
Possible location TL 6628 7328 - undisturbed wooded area bordering Isleham Road at Beck Bridge, approx 150m x 50m. See also reference to 'The Common Way' and the boundary of Isleham (FRK Misc sf16542). However, area not marked on 1824 enclosure maps.
