Full Description
Observation (watching brief) of a house extension footing trench identified a Roman pit, at least 1.7m deep which cut a possible large linear feature (no finds recovered from this) in the top of which there was a gravel layer, possibly a laid surface, or dump layer. Pottery from the pit included sherds of Antonine samian, amphora and grey wares (S1).
Within the known area of Rom settlement.
