Full Description

Name of field `Dovehouse Field' on Tithe map of 1841 (S1) suggests existence of dovehouse. Adjacent to Wentford's farm, also `Chapel Field' (S1) and `Chapel Farm Cottage' (on OS maps) suggest (private?) chapel. Records also indicate a fair being held at Wentford in 1231 and the existence of a tenement called Wentworth in this location in 1590 (S2). NGR centred to area only. Suggest Med & later settlement of substantial house of unknown size - not recorded as a sub-manor according to (S2). Relates to Wentford chapel in Clare (just over parish boundary).

Formerly recorded as PSG MISC
