Full Description
August 1998: Finds from fieldwalking (of planting rows) in parts of forest compartments 2045 & 2046 consisted of highest density of worked flints recovered (up to date) during 'Forest Project". Finds consisted of 6 burnt flints, 5 cores and 137 flakes (circa 50% utilized). Re-utilization of some previously patinated flakes suggested a thin residual (Neolithic?) element although the main assemblage was of extremely low quality suggesting a LBA or IA date.
Also 11 abraded sherds (3 Rom, 8 Med). Details in (S1)(S2).
Also Rom (sf18644) & Med (sf 18645).
