Full Description

1086: 4 mills are recorded at Cavenham in the Domesday survey.
1308/1309: Inquisition of Templars rents and property lists mills at Cavenham called Twygrind (Barton Mills?).
1311: It is recorded that Preceptor of Cavenham had been resposible for a reprise of 5s 11d to Priory of Stoke by Clare from the mills in Cavenham and Twygrynd.
1650-1699: A millar is recorded at Cavenham.
1844: A corn millar is recorded (water mill CAM 035?).
Note; Bowen's 1755 map of Suffolk shows a watermill on the Lark directly S of All Saints Church, Icklingham, at approx TL 775 724.
