Full Description

Ancient Woodland (160 ha) as defined in (S1). For details of history and earthworks see (S1), The Suffolk Wildlife Trust, English Nature and the County Council Countryside Service (Peter Holborn and Geoff Sinclair) and various Oliver Rackham works including (S2).
The main part of Fakenham Wood is surrounded by a massive boundary bank and appears to have been an early medieval deer park (S3).
