Full Description
Large ventilation shaft (for galleried chalk mines?) revealed by collapse during construction works for car park (in 1970s?). Infilled (?) and capped by contractors. Said to be circa 40 feet deep and 10 feet in diameter. Opposite Nos 64-65 Chalk Road and 5-6 paces in from path edge (S1)(S2).
