Full Description
Pottery sherds found in construction of sceptic tank (S1).
Probable occupation layer, dark clay loam with frequent potsherds overlying chalk subsoil. Sample group of rims given to SAU (S2).
On 26 January 1951 Basil Brown met a (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) who said he had found Rom pottery in his garden near(see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s), Bardwell. A sketch map confirms that this is apparently the same site and the pottery was later re-defined as "Anglo-Saxon or early Mediaeval. At a depth of 1 foot 9inches" (S3).
