Full Description

Complete polished stone axehead with oblique cutting edge, 107mm long, 52mm wide, 33mm thick, weight 300g. Details in (S1). Findspot circa 30m to west of ring ditch, HWN 015. Found while metal detecting. Also two Roman 'grots' (not seen) found on same side (E) of field (S2). Igneous stone, appears olivine rich - possibly Lake District product? Rounded cross-section.
