Full Description
Large Rom pottery, brick and tile scatter found during garden works in December 2002. Includes Samian ware and tegula fragments. Found in removal of old apple tree. Flinty layer noted at base of topsoil (thick); much iron in soil and concentration on some of the sherds (S1).
Owner excavated a trial trench c 4mx1m in 2003-2004, finding Rom tile, pottery (greyware, abraded samian and shell-gritted wares) to c. 0.6m below the surface.
2006: Examination of the spoil from the previous trial trench excavation found pottery including two colour coated sherds, 1 possibly Colchester ware and the other possibly 3rd/4th century Nene Valley ware.
