Full Description
Possible site of a medieval Hermitage. Three trenches were machine-excavated to the depth of the natural subsoil which revealed that the site had been subject to considerable post medieval disturbance. However, an assemblage of 16th century finds form the subsoil suggests activity on the site at this time, possibly coinciding with the end of the active life of the Hermitage (S1).
For Cemetery associated with Hermitage in this approximate location - see FML 022.
Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2003 (S2).
