Monument record CSA 010 - Tangham Farm

Circular mound on the corner of a plantation, at a point where two low banks meet. Mound is about 1.4m high, 30 to 35m in diameter, overgrown with brambles but no trees. Edges slightly irregular pehaps due to the large amount of rabbit activity. Possibly round barrow. Information from Forestry Commission workers (via John Newman) in February 1993 suggest this is more likely to be modern spoil (see parish file)(S1).

The possible round barrow described above is not visible on the available aerial photographs. A possible slight mound can be seen at this location on the 2m dtm Lidar image (S2) and has been mapped, but it was felt likely that this represents forestry clearance spoil as suggested above.
Cropmarks and soilmarks of probable geological features are visible in the vicinity on aerial photographs which are not thought to be archaeological in nature, but a polygon has been recorded (SHER CSA 032) in the area.
