Full Description

Site of workhouse built 1856, opened 1857 for 654 inmates, workhouse at Haverhill having been declared too small - 132 paupers (1891). Became POW camp for conscientious objectors (1914/18). Nothing remains now. Reverted to workhouse (1937), converted to mental hospital (1937) (S1)(S2)(S3).
