Full Description
Undated small sub-square moat surrounding small (15m X 15m) square island with possible central square (7m X 7m) unroofed building (dovecot?) shown on 1880s OS map together with square (fish?) pond immediately to south. 'Moat' enlarged and internal structures (?) changed on modern OS map though possibly some survival of 1880s structures.
Part of Overbury Hall complex which, in the medieval period, was a sub-manor of Layham (absorbed by main manor in 1577) - summary in (S2).
Tithe map checked - moated island and internal structures not shown, merely two rectangular ponds (S3), suggesting either mapping incorrect or moat and structure constructed between 1839 and 1880s.
