Full Description

Shipmeadow Locks named on 1783 map (S1). Complex of lock gates, sluices, foot bridges & water channels shown on 1880s OS map. Best preserved of 3 locks on Waveney leading to Bungay Staithe.
Highest extent of ordinary tides in 1880s.
Lock House (Geldeston, Norfolk) now used as public house.
2007: application for HLF conservation works to locks with suggested archaeological conditions.
