Full Description

Part of small (originally circa 20 X 30m?) sub-square moat, S half only appears to survive.
Former extent unknown but pre 1880s maps not checked. Possible location of sub-monor of Wingfield Old Hall, owned by Sir Richard de Brewse in 1275 & seat of de la Poles (absorbed by main manor in 1408) (S2).
Not mapped by Hodskinson (1783).
Details of buildings (outside moat) not known though present (Hall?) building (not listed) appears to overlie NE side of former moat.
Cited NGR accurate to centre of moat - Hall & associated farm complex (including granary) to NE. SW arm of moat now much denuded compared to 1950s OS mapping.
Documentary research needed.
