Full Description

Assessment and photographic record of church tower prior to conservation:
15th C Church Tower. All the architectural features are broadly contemporary, are in the Perp style and probably date to the 15th C. the very clear use of 2 surface treatments is not an indicator of widely different phases, but a decorative feature, possibly aimed at emphasising the main entrance and 'porch' use of the lower area of the tower. It is probable that even though the tower may have been in the course of construction over an extended period of time, its conception and fabric is essentially a single phase.
Flint nodules, stone rubble, brown sandstone cobbles and grey flint.
Roof tiles layed in flat beds around the lower stage and the use of pitched brick in the relieving arch above the S belfry window.
Probably left mainly unaltered since the medieval period. (S1)
