Full Description
Hawks (water) Mill on River Gipping. Former mill (construction date unknown) mapped by Hodskinson (1783) and Bowen (1755). Replacement built 1884.
With wheel and turbine. Brick corn mill built on site of original brick and weather-boarded paper mill in 1884, extended in 1892, taken over by Coleman's of Norwich (for mustard milling) in 1940 and gutted by them in 1950-1. The stones were removed in 1956 (S1)(S2).
