Full Description
2002: Monitoring of footing trenches. The trenches were too narrow to record in detail but they generally consisted of a deep deposit of dark garden loam about 0.8m deep. Pit fill from at least one, possibly two, pits were seen in the north-south aligned trench. In the east west trench a single pit was clearly defined; a single sherd of Thetford ware was recovered from a small sample of the fill within the trench. Animal bone (a horses leg?) was retrieved from the spoil heap but believed to be from this feature (S1).
Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2002 (S2)
