Full Description

Stone cross marking the suggested spot on which had stood St Edmunds Oak. The tree fell down in 1848 at which time it was reported that an arrowhead was found embedded at a depth of more than 2 feet (S1)(S2)(R1).
Claimed to be connected to martydom site of St Edmund at Hoxne (though note Bradfield St Clare (see BSC 018) now thought to be more likely martyrdom site.
