Full Description

This building comprises a rectangular, two storey brick built structure with an ā€˜Lā€™ shaped wing to the rear. The front of the building faces to the west, the central third of which is recessed. The building is relatively plain except for faux rusticated quoins formed from brickwork on the corners of the structure and the edges adjacent to the recessed section of the building front. The appearance of this building suggests a 1920s or 1930s construction. It is likely to have been offices or possibly officer accommodation during the operational phase of the airfield (S1).
A separate single storey rectangular brick built structure to the northeast of the office building is also probably associated with the airfield. It is likely to be later in date than the office building and is of a much plainer, utilitarian, construction. Its original function was probably a boiler house or a simple store (S1).
