Full Description
Some 150m N of the A11 road, quarter of a mile SW of Elveden monument and NE of Gate Lodge, on open Weather Heath. Type 22 pillbox, of standard construction. Brick anti-ricochet wall. Floor is about 1 metre below ground level. Entrance faces W. Earth/grass on roof. The adjacent heath bears traces of anti-landing trenches - see ERL 083(S1, S3).
Incorrectly recorded as Elveden parish in (S1), actually Eriswell. HER reference changed from ELV 087 to ERL 231 accordingly
Appears to be recorded twice in (S1) - needs checking.
1995 Site Visit: Pill box on edge of Weather Heath adjacent to the A11. Standard hexagonal type 22 (S1). Door on western side. Excellent condition (S2). Originally (incorrectly) recorded as IKL 125, then ERL 099.
Hexagonal pill box visible on Google Earth 28/03/18 (S4).
