Summary

Spigot mortar base of about 3.ft diameter, with remains of two pink-brick bomb alcoves. It now has a thick coating of moss on top and has been planted with bulbs. The edge of the pit is visible.

Full Description

On the E side of the road (the old A134) through Long Melford, in front garden of the 'Hare Inn', to rear of telephone kiosk.

[with site location plan drawn on form]. Spigot mortar base of about 3.fft diameter, with remains of two pink-brick bomb alcoves. It now has a thick coating of moss on top and has been planted with bulbs. The edge of the pit is visible (S1).

In situ Second World War spigot mortar base and ammunition lockers in pub carpark. Observed by Craig Thompson; May 2010 (S2).
