Full Description
Site of former brickworks known as 'Grove Brickworks'. Borders on the northern edge of Grove Farm, and may include the kiln site of 'Brick Field' (IPS 706) to the SE of these works. First seen on 1880's OS Map, when it was operated by Alfred Beaumont (between 1881-1888), and later by Rosher Brick, Tile and Pottery Co. (1885-1896). Bolton & Laughlin operated the works between 1904-1912, at which time on the 1900's OS Map a large brick pit is shown to the North West of the main buildings and kilns, and lastly is was owned by A. Bolton & Co. (1916-1922).The 1926/27 OS Map appears to show the buildings largely gone, with a disused pit marked on the 1937 OS Map.
