Full Description

2010: Fieldwork was carried out in an attempt to confirm a suggestion that this was the site of Rughaugh, a sub-manor of Cookley and a possible grange of nearby Sibton Abbey. Medieval pottery was found in a series of small test trenches but no evidence of foundations, suggesting that the present timber-framed Tudor house may occupy the footprint of any earlier dwelling. Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2010 (S1).

Archaeological investigation recovered medieval pottery but did not find evidence of medieval structural remains at a timber-framed tudor house (S2).
