Full Description

Monitoring of improvements to Peacekeeper Park recovered finds and revealed buried soil layers in holes for new fence posts to the south and west of the mere towards the sewage works and peat deposits at the weir. Other interventions failed to reach archaeological levels. Possibly windblown sand was seen as well as evidence for modern disturbance during 20th century. Animal bone finds may have been defleshed using flint implements and therefore prehistoric. Redeposited Roman pot-sherds were also recovered (S1).
