Full Description
Monitoring of groundworks for a private road and a tennis court produced an assemblage of Roman pottery (late 3rd-4th centuries), tile and metal finds. The concentration of finds suggested areas of possible features associated with the nearby villa but the soil strip for the road was just above the level where archaeological features could be seen. In the area of the tennis court a pit with Roman pottery and oyster shell was found. Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2005 (S1).
