Full Description
Moat. Series of rectangles (in series), isolated, occupied, beside parish boundary on W side of Battlesea Green.
Remnants of a chapel incorporated in upper storey of house (see SBK 010). `Moat' is in fact probably a fortuitous conjunction of an C18 ornamental canal (see PMed) and the ditch marking the west boundary of Battlesea Green (see SBK 015). However the slightly wider ditch at the north end (E side) may indicate that a small original moat was incorporated into the system. The remains of this chapel are now incorporated in the upper storey of a private residence (S1).
