Full Description

Late post medieval wall and pottery scatter were identified during an archaeological watching brief at Hamblin Road Car Park. The pottery is all of 19th to 20th century in date and includes five pieces of an English stoneware bottle from Joseph Bourne’s stoneware potteries in Derbyshire dated between c.1833-1841. The depth of the topsoil-like material found on the site suggests that the ground level was deliberately built up, probably to safeguard against flooding (S1).
