Full Description
September 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme.
Undated linear and curvilinear features are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs on land to the east of Aerodrome Plantation, Hollesley. It is possible that this complex series of cropmarks represents an Iron Age-Roman settlement site and/or field system and enclosures, in a similar way to sites recorded to the west (SHER SUT 022 and SUT 145). The site is clearly very complex and likely to represent multi-period activity, but it was difficult to discern the true extent of the archaeological features from the available photography and therefore only the main elements of the site have been mapped. Some linear cropmark ditches were also visible in field to south, but these have been recorded separately (SHER STT 061).
