Full Description
Possible homestead moat. Isolated, unoccupied, very close to parish boundary. Dry, western arm filled in.
The remains of a typical homestead moat situated on high ground E of Tabies Wood. It measures overall c 64.0m N-S by c 45.0m transversely with arms c 5.0m average width. The W arm is ploughed over, surviving as a shallow depression; the remainder are waterfilled. The interior, at the same level as the outside, is ploughed and there is no trace and no local knowledge of a building. According to the farmer, the adjacent field is called Moat Field.
