Full Description
One of three Round Barrows on Playford Heath - see PLY 003 & PLY 004. 1962: Fair condition, average diameter 17.5m (the perimeter has been much reduced by ploughing) and height 0.8m. It is bracken and tree covered. 2 February 1977: Island in area of rough grass - once ploughed up to margins. Deciduous trees and grass. Mound height 0.61m, diameter 16.4m. 1981: Diameter 35 ft, height 1.5 ft. Grass & bracken, 5 birch trees + 1 dead. Now on edge of school playing field (S1).
1993: NGR amended slightly. `... visible as an earthen mound standing to a height of 0.7m and covering an area with a maximum diameter of 20m? No trace of ditch. Edge formerly degraded by ploughing, and there has been some disturbance, the monument survives well...'. Scheduled area revised - see (S1).
Has Playford HER code, but NGR locates to just in Kesgrave parish.
