Full Description

September 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme.
Undated cropmarks of possible field boundaries, a possible trackway and enclosure are visible on aerial photographs (S1)-(S3), surrounding Oakhill Plantation, Sutton. A curvilinear cropmark is also visible towards the centre of the field, which may represent a fragment of a former ring ditch, although it is likely to be geological in nature and has been recorded with a hint of caution. Concentrations of Iron Age and Roman pottery (SHER SUT 051 and SUT 208) and Roman and Saxon objects (SHER SUT 123) have been recovered from this field.
E. Ford (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 17th September 2015.
