Full Description

The building is a modest example of a very small Religious Society of Friends meeting house built in 1833 with an adjacent burial ground. The building retains some of the original fittings. It is possible that the burial ground may predate the meeting house although there is no clear evidence for this. From the 1890's the meeting house in Pakefield Street was supplemented by the Mission Hall on St George's Street and it was closed in 1966. The building was extended to the north in the late 19th century. The building was restored and re-opened in 1985 (S1).
