Summary

The earthworks of wood banks and an oblong mound probable medieval to post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs and LIDAR imagery within Tunstall Forest. It is feasible however that the mound relates to more recent clearance activities in the forest – as it can’t be clearly distinguished on the earlier aerial photographs.

November 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Beauty National Mapping Programme.
The earthworks of wood banks and an oblong mound probable medieval to post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs and LIDAR imagery (S1-S2) within Tunstall Forest. It is feasible however that the mound relates to more recent clearance activities in the forest – as it can’t be clearly distinguished on the earlier aerial photographs.
