Full Description
Excavation includes four small, similar pits containing large amounts of charcoal.Radiocarbon dating of one of the pits indicates they date to the late Saxon period and could be related to industrial activities associated with the Saxon settlement at Ipswich. A ring ditch associated with a Bronze Age round
barrow was revealed within Trench 39. (S1).
