Full Description

The remains of a small WWII military structure are visible on the Shotley cliff looking south toward Harwich. The structure forms part of the WWII coastal fortifications around Shotley and was likely a gun emplacement. Two sets of probable mounting points, one comprising three larger rectangular points and the second of three smaller circular points, are present within the structure. Some parts of the walls survive to a height of 3 courses of concrete blocks. Footprint of structure is almost entirely intact. (S1) (S2)
