Full Description
Grade II listed building since 1972. A C17 timber-framed and plastered building with a jettied upper storey to the west half of the block, with exposed timber-framing and exposed joists. 2 storeys and attics. The 1st storey windows are 3, 4 and 5-light mullioned casements with leaded lights. The ground storey is in C20 brick and has continuous windows along the front. Roof tiled, with 3 gabled dormers (S1).
Timber-framed buildings survey of Ipswich - A pair of two-bay houses, joined end to end, each ending onto and having use of the fireplaces on both sides of a large central stack. At a later date both buildings came into being part of one long range. The PH to the left of the stack is divided into two bays, the rear of the range comprises various extension buildings, the earliest apparently is a rear timber-fgramed structure behind the public bar. The extension to the side of this is probably later. The first floor has a series of room with a passageway linking all the rooms. The attic runs the entire length of the building and it is possible to see the original clasped purlin roof structure (S2).
