Full Description

The evaluation identified a possible linear feature of medieval date. The only other dated features were a pit of Roman or medieval date, and a boundary ditch, pit and ditch of post-medieval/modern date. Fourteen undated features were also excavated. Recovered from the topsoil was a residual flint of Neolithic or Bronze Age date and a quantity of post-medieval/modern agricultural ironwork. The site is probably located on the periphery of medieval activity which was focused around the medieval church as Assington Hall (S1).
