Full Description

2019: Archaeological monitoring revealed two pits and a wall foundation of 17th to 18th century date. The wall foundation trench was likely for a structure contemporary with extant buildings on the High Street. Residual sherds of medieval pottery were found in the pits, suggetsing that the post Medieval redevelopment in and around the site may have represented a continuation of Medieval activity in the core of the town. Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2019 (S2).
