Full Description

Moated complex, occupied, isolated, near parish boundary. Part gone, probably sub-rectangular originally, with extensive complex including enclosures and ponds (and listed building - details not checked).
In 1783 at least 2 buildings shown) abutting NW corner of Broome Common (S1). Presumeably these are Malting (s) Farm and another lost building (see TDE 015). It seems likely all of the buildings were originally situated just to the south of the original green (see TDE 016) edge. Also buildings & moat to N of road - see TDE 014.
It is possible this moat may have extended to included the building (malting?) complex to the E (TDE 015).
The moat may be the site of one of Thrandeston's sub-manors (further documentary research, including tithe map, needed).
Note: this site was originally mapped to include the moated site TDE 014, the possible malting TDE 015 and the green TDE 016. HER mapping amended 18/08/2006.
