Full Description
Moat. Rectangular, occupied, close to church, isolated (S1).
Moat is shown on an estate map of 1757 made by T Skynner for Charles, Lord Maynard. This shows a rectangular moat around the farmhouse (S2).
Part of the forfeited estate of Sir Henry Bedingfield of Oxburgh in 1651.
The Parliamentary survey taken at this time refers to the 'Capital messuage or Mansion House…commonly called Denham College alias Denham Dungeon'. This lists the rooms in the house and refers to 'one small court yard, and a small garden within the moat'. The tenant was then Thomas Bedingfield, on a 21-year lease (S3).
