Full Description
Moat. Parts of square, occupied, isolated, almost on parish boundary (S1).
There are three portions of a qudrangular moat at Ulveston Hall. (2)
16th c building, on the site of an older hall c 1350 or earlier.
Grade II. (3)
Ulveston Hall (name verified) is as described by the DOE and is not outstanding. It is at present unoccupied, and no knowledge
can be gained regarding an earlier house. The house is on a gentle N-facing slope, and the "moat-like", L-shaped feature to the SE of the house is c 2.0m higher than the pond to the N. There was never a continuous sheet of water around the hall. (S4)
