Full Description

Brick works. Shown on first edition OS map 1837 (S1). Tithe map (1845, plot 240, `Brick Kiln Yards'), OS 6 inch 1884 & 1903 and 25 inch of 1904. Chimney/s described by (S2) suggest down draught kiln rather than standard Suffolk kiln (S4). Surviving kilns in rear garden of 1 & 2 Brick Kiln Cottages (S2). In fairly good condition but overgrown. Sample brick (8.5" x 4" x 2.5") in store (S3).

2007: Photoos taken during clearance work (S5), site now backfilled.
