Full Description
Moat, N arm only, wet. Occupied by C16 brick house (S2).
One side only of a broad moat remains at Barham Hall Farm (S1). Only N arm of moat survives, water-filled and in good condition (S2). `Moat' is a linear pond or canal [ie, a garden feature rather than a moat] on the opposite side of the road to Barham Manor, a C16 house (S3). In 1840/44 the pond and Barham Manor belonged to different owners (Joseph Burch Smyth and William Howard respectively). Feature referred to just as `pond' (S4).
Building named as [Barham?] 'Hall' on Hodskinsons 1783 map.
