Full Description
Small mound, 10.5m in diameter and under 50cm in height. The centre is hollowed and the mound has several tree stumps on it; vehicle ruts impinge on one side of the mound. Possibly a small round barrow (S1).
November 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Beauty National Mapping Programme.
The earthworks of the previously recorded mound and/or barrow and another three possible mounds are visible on the Lidar 2m DTM imagery (S1). Two of the mounds are more well-defined and appear to be defined by ditches. The identification of at least one of these mounds on the ground would suggest that they may relate to archaeologically significant mounds. However it must be noted that many of the small mounds visible on the Lidar are most likely to relate to recent clearance mounds.
S. Horlock (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 25th November 2015.
