Full Description

`Yarmouth, 4th Nov. It has been blowing a heavy gale here all night, and still continues, from SW to
`Yarmouth, 5th Nov. At half-past 3 o'clock the wind flew suddenly round from the SW to the N and blew a tremendous gale...We cannot get all the particulars, but the following accounts have reached us: HOPEWELL, of Yarmouth, with timber, bound to London, and wrecked near Lowstoffe...We believe the crews of all these vessels are safe...' (1)

The following appears to be an account of the same vessel:

`Lowestoffe, Nov. 5. Yesterday afternoon, during a most tremendous hurricane, a great many ships were forced to cut...The following are on shore here...a sloop laden with timber, belonging to Mr. Palmer of Yarmouth...' (1)

The details of this vessel appear to have incorporated to form the details of a different HOPEWELL, grounded near Padstow 04-OCT-1821, and thus appear in North Cornwall (AC).

Master: J Ashley? (2)
Owner: Palmer, Great Yarmouth?
