Full Description
Two intersecting linear cropmarks, double ditched in places, running N-S and NW-SE. An enclosure in the north of the field and possible enclosures near the centre. Cropmarks visible on three separate Google earth images. They do not equate to field divisions on OS 1sted.
2025: Magnetometry Survey of the field(s) at Hall Farm Wenhaston known as Fox Hill (upper) and Whin Hill (lower). At the upper end of the field a double line trackway can be seen running south to north approximately in the centre of the surveyed area, This appears to be heading towards a cropmark which could be clearly seen in the adjacent northern field. Also noted are two very faint parallel lines from the west curving to the north in the top right-hand grid of the survey. These lines are approximately 7.3 metres apart but are unfortunately mostly obliterated by the ferrous responses at their eastern end.
There are numerous ferrous responses evident throughout the site some the result of the degradation of the fence line, others from broken scrap farm articles which have also been detected on the field (S2).
