Summary

Seven storey tower mill built of tarred brick in 1856 by John Whitmore. It had four patent sails, three pairs of stones, an ogee cap with gallery and a fantail. It ceased work by wind circa 1905-10 when a steam-driven roller plant was installed. The cap was removed circa 1950 and the tower is now disused and empty of machinery.

Full Description

A large seven storey tower mill was buiilt at Kelsale cum Carlton in 1856 by John Whitmore. It had four patent sails, three pairs of stones, an ogee cap with gallery and a fantail. It ceased work by wind circa 1905 when a steam-driven roller plant was installed. The cap was removed circa 1950 and the tower is now disused and empty of machinery.
